Along with many other benefits, exercise is actually a way to increase cognitive function and learning ability. This is greatly effective in grade school children. There are multiple studies showing that students who participated in regular physical activity had higher scores on tests/quizzes, and were able to focus better and sit still longer in school. This is why it is upsetting when schools talk about, or actually cut out their physical activity program from their students' daily school routine. Children need to be active during their day not only to remain healthy during growth, but also in order to perform at their highest academic potential.
